The Adrian Waisfeld Tennis Academy started 20 years ago in my hometown of Cordoba Argentina after my professional tennis career.
The main focus of the AW Tennis Academy is on our junior tennis development program and offers instruction to students of all ages and levels.
In addition we also offer adult instruction.
I am Adrian Waisfeld the Tennis Director and founder of the Adrian Waisfeld Tennis Academy. I was born and raised in Cordoba, Argentina and from young ages was involved with every sport possible. If there was a ball involved, I was there!
I fell in love with tennis when my Dad took me to watch a Davis Cup match where Argentina team beat the USA's team. Some of the best players in the world were there such as John McEnroe, Guillermo Vilas, Jose Luis Clerc, Peter Fleming and Gene Mayer. After that wonderful match, I told him "I want to be a pro tennis player", even though at that time I could hardly hit a ball over the net. Since then I dedicated myself to tennis, spending many hours on the court and loving it every day of my life.
I had an exceptional junior career reaching #1 in my hometown city Cordoba, then #1 in my state, and finally top 8 in the nation. I had the chance to play 10 years professionally through the prize money European Circuit as well as in tournaments around South America. In the ATP tournaments I had the opportunity to play against and with some of the top tennis players in the world.
I started teaching tennis when I was 16 years old in order to finance my dream to play on the pro tour. After my playing career I began teaching full time in my hometown Cordoba where I was the Tennis Head pro in a club and owned my own tennis club.
During my time in Argentina I worked with nationally rank juniors and some pro players.
In 2002 we decided to move to the USA in order to continue improving my coaching career.
My goal was and is still to build up a Tennis Academy where I can help people to enjoy, learn, and develop their skills so they can take advantage of their full potential. I hope that I can share and transmit some of the passion I feel for the best sport in the world with all who want to learn.
My teaching philosophy is athlete centered, where the most important thing is to fulfill the athlete's needs in order to reach their potential in tennis and have a higher overall quality of life.
When I began playing, people used to tell me I was too late to be successful in tennis because I hadn't started when I was younger, but my dad and I didn't listen. We made up the hours with longer practice times and through it all had fun together and with my older brother.
My passion for all sports gave me an advantage as it had already shaped me into a coordinated athlete and was able to pick up tennis's technique more easily.
So never quit on a child, regarding the stats!
